8 Great and Free WordPress Themes

If you’ve read my tutorial, you know that using a search engine to find free WordPress themes can be dangerous. Many sites that offer a whole bunch of free WordPress themes will have themes that contain malicious code, hidden links, and are just plain crap.

WordPress.org has a list of free themes that are safe for you to use. You can also find these right in your WordPress dashboard under Appearance > Themes > Install Themes.

Here are some more great free WordPress themes!

Woo Themes is one of the top WordPress theme providers and knows the value of giving things away for free. And they have lots of awesome free themes that go the extra mile when it comes to added features. They make it so simple to add your logo, change colors and the background and so much more. Great for beginners and the pros, WooThemes makes it east to add things like tabbed content, bullet lists, columns, social network icons and more. You should also check out their free themes and icons while you’re there!

But wait, there’s more! They even have what they call a playground. You get to test drive themes before you use them on your own website. Their playground says that it’s for their premium themes, but when I checked it out, there were freebies there to play with too! Too cool!

RocketTheme – they started out creating templates for Joomla! and has since expanded their service to include WordPress, phpBB, Drupal and Magento themes and templates. They’re one of the few theme providers that I’ve found that are developing phpBb templates to match some of their WordPress themes. A true rarity! They also offer some free themes for you to check out.
